Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Staffing Study
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has just issued a new synthesis of research studies funded by AHRQ and others that indicates that hospitals with lower nurse staffing levels, nurses who spent less time with patients, or fewer registered nurses compared with licensed practical nurses or nurse aides tend to have higher rates of poor patient outcomes, including pneumonia, shock, cardiac arrest, and urinary tract infections. The report is available free online for downloading and printing.

Nursing School Graduates: Suggestions When Seeking Employment
An interview tip sheet for nursing students with an education at the baccalaureate level and above has been created by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). The brochure will help students make the right decision when the time comes to decide where to practice after graduation. AACN provides eight characteristics to consider when seeking employment, as well as questions to ask during an interview.
